The OSNS Child and Youth Development Centre is one step closer to replacing its pediatric therapy equipment after a Penticton-based group recently made a generous donation to the cause.

Helen Little, Brenda Craig and Debbie Verhaeghe from the Fraternal Order of Eagles’ Ladies Auxiliary arrived at the centre on Tuesday, July 5, to make their donation of $2,000.

“Donating back to the community is what we do, it’s our purpose for existing,” said Craig, the provincial trustee of the organization. “Our motto is people helping people.”

The money will go towards the therapy equipment that is in need of replacement, according to the centre.

“We thank the Ladies Auxiliary for their generous donation towards our Centre,” said Megan Windeler, community engagement lead at OSNS. “We are always striving to provide the best treatment possible and kindness like this helps make that possible.”

More than 1600 children across the South Okanagan visit the Penticton-based centre annually, with physiotherapy, occupational therapy, psychology, speech therapy and autism intervention among the services offered.

The $2,000 donation from the Ladies Auxiliary comes just four weeks after a recent quiz night at the St. Saviour’s Anglican Church raised $4,000 for the centre.
