The Penticton Farmers’ Market is back for the season starting this Saturday, April 16 from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the 100 block of Main Street.

This will be the first time in two years the market will be able to run without any COVID-19 restrictions.

Farm fresh veggies and fruits, eggs, honey, baking, preserves and handmade crafts – all grown or produced in the South Okanagan and Similkameen Valley. Some local wineries like Ruby Blues are back at the market. The award-winning Samosa Express Food Truck will also be there.

“We will be starting from with 55 plus vendors — all ‘make it, bake it, grow it’ vendors. The ones who will be there at first will have dried veggies, fruit leather, microgreens, overwinter leeks and new radishes and more,” said Penticton Farmers Market organizer Linda Van Alphen.

There will be vendors who do unique preserves and jams, candles, soaps, spirits, kettle corn, Indo-Canadian food, falafel, hummus, eggs, meats, cards, pastries, fresh-baked breads, baked goods, perogies, salmon and beyond.

“We will have soon soups, coffee, dumplings, balsamic vinegars, stained glass and fruit in season. There is so much to our market that it is hard to name everything,” she said.

The Market goes until Oct. 29, every Saturday from 8:30 - 1 p.m.

“I have to say how proud I am of our vendors,” said Van Alphen. “We have been through a very tough two years but they have stuck it out and a big thank you to all our very faithful customers who showed up every Saturday in 2020 and 2021.”

The Penticton Farmers’ Market has been operating in downtown Penticton since 1991.

The Downtown Community Market is separate and distinct from the Penticton Farmer’s Market. Both are overseen by different organizations and have independent managers.

The Community Market’s opening day will be Saturday, May 7 and will go to Sept. 24.
