Viola and Graham Hutchinson have loaned their Ukrainian flag to fly on the city’s flag pole and show the community’s support for Ukraine.

A Penticton couple has stepped in to provide the city with a Ukrainian flag to fly.

Viola and Graham Hutchinson loaned the official flag, which will fly in front of the South Okanagan Events Centre to show the city’s support for the people of Ukraine.

Coun. Katie Robinson thanked the couple for the city’s announcement on Facebook.

“You have to love the generosity shown by Viola and Graham in helping everyone in Penticton show their support for Ukraine”, she wrote.

Other communities in the Okanagan, including Kelowna and Vernon, have also taken to flying the Ukrainian flag recently in their own shows of support.

The City of Penticton had initially been unable to find a flag that would fit the city’s flag poles and had gone through multiple local sign shops and the city’s procurement manager.
