Penticton’s council wants people to know their city’s heritage.
Council agreed to seek a grant on behalf of the Heritage and Museum Committee from Heritage BC for a public awareness campaign.
The Penticton Heritage Registry contains around 50 sites, with some buildings dating back more than a century.
One of the aims of the campaign would be clear up misunderstandings in the public with heritage designations in the community.

“Heritage sites are a connection to the past and provide a sense of history and continuity,” said Karen Collins, a member of the Heritage and Museum Advisory Committee. “They also tell the stories of who we are, what we have experienced as a community, in addition to functioning as landmarks and having significant aesthetic value.”
The City of Penticton’s Heritage Registry webpage includes a map of heritage locations throughout the city with information.
The Heritage and Museum Advisory Committee is currently accepting applications for four vacancies. If you’re interested in applying, visit the Join a Council Committee page for details.
