The fire hall will have live fire demonstrations and will also be handing out free smoke detectors. Firefighters will be firing up the barbecue with food by donation.

Oliver Fire had the Nk’Mip wildfire shirts made up as a fundraiser to assist the department in purchasing more gear and enhanced training. The shirts are $25 cash only.

Oliver Fire Department firefighters played a big role in battling the Nk’Mip wildfire, working long hours fighting the aggressive blaze.

A video taken by the Oliver Fire Department on July 27 during a structural protection assignment, shows flames burning all the way down to the fireguard causing intense heat issues for crews.

“After a brief radio call, this helicopter pilot made a perfect drop to cool the fire down for us. The reaction from our crew member says it all,” stated the Oliver Fire Department.

The Oliver fire crews were successful at dousing the Wolf Creek fire that erupted quickly near homes on July 4.

One woman credits the quick action of the Oliver fire crews and BC Wildfire for saving her home. She posted a picture to Facebook of her home near the flames while helicopters dropped water on the blaze.
