Cawston Community Hall Society received 200 new chairs  last week, thanks to a donation of $3,000 from Cawston Cold Storage in addition to a $3,000 donation from an anonymous  source.

The chairs were purchased from Source Furnishings in Kelowna after a committee made up of Bonna Dawson, Wilfred Mennell and Bob McAtamney researched a number of options before making a recommendation to the hall board.

The Cawston Community Hall Society is launching a “Buy a  Chair” fund to help defray the rest of the total chair costs of $10,000.

The chairs cost approximately $50 each. Individuals or groups can purchase a chair, as can local businesses.

Donations to the “Buy a Chair” fund can be deposited at the Cawston Post Office, care of Margaret Stewart.

Donations over $25 are tax deductable.

One hundred of the hall’s original chairs are being retained, and will be made available to rent. The rest of the chairs can be purchased for $5 or less, depending on their condition. If interested, contact Cory Van Heck.
