Hedley needs to register volunteer drivers to make the driver’s program run smoothly.The LSCSS will also work with the Hedley  to solve the problems unique to Hedley.

A group of concerned community members invited representative of the LSCSS to Hedley after a few discussions at the senior’s center during the summer time when it was identified that we may not need to “reinvent the wheel” and there may be ways for us to access existing services.

Lower Similkameen Community Services offers affordable, nutritious and large portioned “meals on wheels” for the elderly, disabled and recently released from hospital patients who are unable to cook for themselves.  This service is available for Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays for $5 a meal. These servings would last the average senior two or three days and include salads, soups, an entrée and a dessert.

A typical “Meals on Wheels” delivery includes enough food for at least two days at a cost of $5.  Volunteer drivers must be coordinated to bring to Hedley.
