Head down to the Keremeos outdoor skating rink for the last day to skate Sunday, Jan. 31.

Public skating is open from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.

Friday and Saturday had night skating as well as Saturday had a daytime public skate that saw lots of locals show up for one of the last days of skating at the outdoor skating rink.

The outdoor rink was opened Dec. 5, 2020 after careful consideration for COVID-19 safety precautions.

The popular ice rink had public skating and drop-in hockey as well as lessons, said Similkameen Recreation Centre manager Andy Foster.

It’s been a warmer than usual winter for the rink which uses a cooling system to keep the ice frozen.

Learn to skate seemed to be the most popular program of the year along with skate for a toonie.

“The RDOS recognizes how important it is to keep active during these times so we are happy to provide this.”

Foster said the Keremeos outdoor pool was a success this summer and the recreation centre’s gym is also open with all the provincial COVID safety protocols in place.
