Keremeos Royal Purple present bursaries to local youth

The Ladies of the Royal Purple has provided bursaries to individual students and local organizations

The Ladies of the Keremeos Royal Purple supported two local youth with bursaries to further their athletic and academic dreams.

President Gail Strandberg presented Marlee Winser with $500 to help off-set some of the expenses Winser will experience travelling to competitions across Canada.

Winser just competed in the BC Summer Games and won three golds, one silver and three bronze medals. She is currently competing in the Nationals in Toronto.

Winser dreams of competing in the Olympics someday and it looks like she is well on her way.

In June, Strandberg also presented a $1,000 bursary to Roy Lucich, to help with his studies at Okanagan University to become an Airplane Mechanic.

Over the past year the Keremeos Royal Purple has donated $1,800 to the Starfish Program, $500 to the Foodbank, $200 to local graduates, and $1,000 to the BC Family Speech and Hearing Centre.

The Royal Purple can usually be seen on Wednesdays selling baked goods to raise money for their causes.
