With the community behind them, Keremeos’ Royal Canadian Legion Branch #192 has once again stepped forward to support local charities.

Even though the branch has been closed at various times due to COVID restrictions, the Legion was able to support groups such as the Lower Similkameen Community Services Society for their programs including the new Star Fish Program for children.

The Legion has also provided support to the South Okanagan Medical Foundation in support of Orchard Haven, the Penticton Hospital Foundation, the ALS Society of BC, the South Okanagan Similkameen Brain Injury Society, BC Children’s Hospital, Special Olympics of BC, the Keremeos Friends of the Library as well as the Legion’s annual bursaries. The bursaries are awarded to three students graduating from Similkameen Elementary Secondary School each year.

The support of the community enabled the Legion to pay it forward after they received over $13,000 in donations, when the branch was only able to be open six months of the year.

The Keremeos Legion expressed its gratitude for the support of members and the community that allows the members to fundraise through gaming activities such as Saturday Meat Draws, 50/50 draws and other games to support these worthwhile groups.

Please continue to support your local Legion, so the Legion can continue to support the community.
