The Keremeos branch of the Royal Canadian Legion is gathering donations for this year’s Christmas hampers.

Until Dec. 10, they are accepting non-perishable goods, as well as things such as socks and gloves.

“We are collecting to distribute throughout the community to needy families and some seniors,” said Mike Favel, the secretary for the Keremeos Legion. “We’re working with the Elim Tabernacle Church, the pastor there is the Legion chaplain. He scouts out and finds needy people in the community, and we put together the hampers.”

The goal for this year is to fill at least 12 hampers, with the hope that any extra donations can be used for more hampers.

Donations for the hampers can be made at the Keremeos Legion building at 510 Veterans Ave.
