Keremeos Legion gathering donations for Christmas hampers

Any non-perishable food goods are welcome

The Keremeos branch of the Royal Canadian Legion is gathering donations for this year’s Christmas hampers.

The hampers will be distributed to five seniors and to five families in need who otherwise wouldn’t necessarily have a special Christmas dinner.

Any non-perishable food item is welcome to be donated, and donations can be dropped off at the Keremeos Legion Hall either from 10 a.m. until 6 p.m. outside if they wish to stay socially distanced, or by handing the donation off to the Legion directly at any time from 2 to 6 p.m., from Mondays to Saturday.

Cash donations are also welcome, and go towards grocery gift cards for the recipients.

Last year, the five families also received $50 cards for the local Buy-Low Foods in Keremeos.

The Legion in Keremeos has been putting together and distributing these hampers to members of the community for at least 10 years.

Donations are welcome up until Dec. 18, in order to give the Legion time to put together the hampers and send them out.
