Winter is officially in full swing at Apex Mountain Resort.
The resort announced Saturday morning that their tube park is now open Friday and Saturday nights from 4 to 9 p.m.
The mountain also opened a new general store — with a fully licensed liquor store inside — over the weekend, giving skiers and winter activity enthusiasts a place to shop for essentials seven days a week.
And for everyone out there with a sweet tooth, Peek Sweets candy shop is back and open seven days a week for the holiday season.
Apex’s skating loop and hockey rink are also now open for the season. The skating loop is open every night until 11 p.m. A full day skate on the loop can be purchased at the ticket booth for $4 or $11 for skate rentals and a pass.
Meanwhile, the rink — which is at the highest elevation of any full NHL sized rink in Canada — is also open until 11 p.m.
The mountain will also be open for night skiing until 9 p.m. every day through the Christmas holidays, with the exception of Dec. 24, 25, 31 and Jan. 1. The T-bar, magic carpet and two terrain parks are open during night skiing hours.
Masks are mandatory in the village, indoors and and in lines anywhere on the mountain and groups should only come with people from within their own household bubble. To read more about Apex’s coronavirus precautions, click here.
With buckets of snow expected to fall Monday (Dec. 21), the resorts general manager, James Shalman is excited for what looks to be an incoming winter wonderland over the holidays at Apex.
“We’re expecting 20 to 30 centimetres of snow tomorrow,” Shalman said. “The forecast looks amazing and we’re all stoked for it here.”
