Global Wellness Day event held in Osoyoos

Activities will be at Desert Sun on June 8 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

An event in Osoyoos on Saturday will mark Global Wellness Day.

The event, organized by Desert Sun Counselling and Resource Centre and Osoyoos Wellness Hub, will be held at Desert Sun, 8701 Main St., Osoyoos on Saturday, June 1 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

More than a dozen tables will be set up with services, products, resources and information about a variety of health dimensions.

In addition, Wellness Walks will be happening at 9:30, 10, 10:30 and 11 a.m.

These 20- to 30-minute group walks will head to a hydration station at the Watermark Beach Resort and then back to the main event.

Activities include a Creative Corner hosted by the Osoyoos and District Arts Council, a Kids Wellness Zone and healthy snacks from Buy Low’s Larry the Strawberry.

Children can participate in painting and hiding rocks on their own Kids Wellness Walk.

Free activities include a warm up and stretching session led by physiotherapist Trish Stevens, followed by a wellness walk.

Caron Keens, a Certified Laughter Leader, will lead a laughter session.

Dr. Tamara Browne, a naturopath at the Natural Family Health Clinic in Okanagan Falls will give a presentation on improving chronic pain through diet and lifestyle.

Helen Stuctchbury from The Yoga You Need will offer a beginner’s yoga session.

Global Wellness Day has been celebrated since 2012. It is now observed in 130 countries at 5,000 locations.
