Initial estimates are in and it appears Monday’s ninth annual Easter Fun Day and Egg Hunt in Penticton raised in excess of $3,000.

According to Meg Dimma, community engagement co-ordinator for the OSNS Child and Youth Development Centre, which receives the money raised, early estimates had the number of children registered at just under 600, which would be the most ever. Total attendance was believed to be in the 1,500 range.

Organized through LocoLanding Adventure Park, the three hours of fun and games including two locations of egg hunting, on the grounds near the park and the next door SS Sicamous.

Money came in the form of a $5 registration fee as well as the discounted prices for nine activities within the park.

In addition, according to Dimma there was another soft total of $1,300 from the sale of hot dogs and a donation from the Canadian Scholarship Trust.

Organizers had to supplement the original 10,000 eggs part way through the event with another 5,000.
