The Oliver Fire Department acted quickly on Wednesday night, responding to a heavily involved structure fire on Willowbrook Road.

According to the organization’s Facebook page, any visible flames were put out and the units were secure by 11:59 p.m. on Thursday night.

The department received reports of a fire at 11 p.m. and asked the public to stay clear of the area.

“We had two engines, a tender and rescue truck on the scene for water and manpower resources,” said Oliver Fire Department spokesman Rob Graham.

The type of fire, as well as the location of the situation, made for a different type of response from the department.

“Because of the type of fire that it was and where it was located, by the time that the guys would respond, the truck would leave and they would show up on the scene,” he added.

“There could have been a lot more damage than there ended up being.”

Residents of the home on Willowbrook evacuated safely and there were no reported injuries.

“Our crews did really well in handling that structure and roof,” stated Graham.

The Oliver Fire Department has said that the cause of the fire is unknown and that an investigation will follow.
