The Children’s Showcase kicked celebrated the holiday season with a Winter Concert on Sunday.
Mia Harris and Maiya Robbie of Little Tree Music Together were joined on stage by Tavis Weir and Stefan Bienz, as well as plenty of kids eager to dance and sing along.
The children crowded the front row, moving mostly under the direction of Harris and Robbie.
Songs ranged from Christmas classics like Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer to a multi-layered sing-along of She Sells Seashells that had kids and parents joining in.
The winter concert was the second of four shows in the Children’s Showcase 36th season.
Their next upcoming show is on Feb. 9. Axis Theatre presents Th’owxiya: The Hungry Feast Dish by Vancouver’s Joseph A. Dandurand.
The Indigenous performers share a story from the Kwantlen First Nations Village of Squa’lets, about Th’owxiya, an old and powerful spirit that inhabits a feast dish. Th’owxiya catches Kw’atel, a hungry mouse stealing from her.
Tickets for the upcoming show are $12 and at Tumbleweed Gallery, Penticton Arts Council office, Prague Café, Penticton Art Gallery, Oliver Veterinary Hospital, The Beanery Café, Summerland or online at Eventbrite. Tickets also available at the door.
