The Community Foundation of the South Okanagan is supporting ongoing renovations at The Cawston Community Hall.
The Cawston Community Hall has been a hub of Lower Similkameen community life since 1922.
Challenges in ongoing renovation arise from the “cobbled” nature of the hall building, which is a combination three structures; the original hall and dance floor, the old Cawston Elementary School moved from across the street in the 1950’s and the additional Women’s Institute Room which is a meeting place for many local clubs and visiting groups.
Renovations in 1974 with volunteer labor assembled a new roof structure and entrance lobby. Further work in 2010 spruced up the meeting room interior.
