From electricians to gardeners and everything in between, from April 2 to 3 the 26th annual Penticton Home and Reno Show will have something for any and every home project in the Okanagan.

Over 110 vendors are expected to attend the event, promote their service and give expert home advice to the show’s guests at the Penticton Trade and Convention Centre during the first weekend of April.

The 2022 edition of the event will mark the show’s first in-person gathering since early 2020.

“We’re excited to be out and back into the community,” said Sarah Taylor, the executive officer of the Canadian Home Builders’ Association in the South Okanagan (CHBASO).

“Just having a presence and something for people to go to on the weekend, it’s going to be great. Home shows are great, who doesn’t love grabbing a coffee and checking out all the vendors?”

The event has seen a total of about 6,000 attendees over the course of the weekend in the past, Taylor added.

People in the community will have the opportunity to ask experts about anything that relates to their home life.

“Ask questions about building a house, renovating a house, as well as questions about someone’s garden,” the executive officer explained.

The two-day event will look a little different this year. Along with the potential COVID-19 restrictions that will be in place, organizers have added a special pancake breakfast on the morning of April 3.

All proceeds from the breakfast will be donated to the South Okanagan Women in Need Society (SOWINS).

“We wanted to do a session outdoors, do some community engagement and raise some funds for the SOWINS,” Talyor said. “We’re going to have builders flipping pancakes on Sunday, so that should be a lot of fun outside.”

Admission for the home show is $5, with people having the option to attend the pancake breakfast for an additional $5 in support of the local charity.

Applications from exhibitors are now being accepted on CHBASO’s website.

Taylor added that the home show has always been beneficial to both the vendors and the people attending as visitors.

“We’re providing a service to the community,” Taylor said. “This is an event a lot of people look forward to and people plan their renovations around our home show and plan around making contacts there.”
