The Oliver Fire Department is celebrating its 100th birthday this summer and the occasion won’t come and go without a community-wide party.

A country music concert dedicated to the department is planned to take place on July 9, with Canadian group the Tanner Olsen Band confirmed as the headlining act.

The band is set to play at Calgary Stampede this summer but won’t do so before making a stop in Oliver to honour the firefighters from the 100-year-old crew.

Planning is in its early stages, with an exact location and ticketing information yet to be released.

The headlining band has appeared at the iconic Vancouver venue Roxy’s and at the Gone Country music festival.
