Recent changes to the province’s hunting licensing program won’t bother Sasquatch Sports owner Derek Sward .

Victoria announced last week that the hunting licensing program will receive major upgrades, including a website where hunters will be able to purchase a license 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

“For the most part, no,” Sward answered when asked if he thought the new regulations would impact his business.

“I feel it’s ‘welcome to the 21st century.’ Let’s deal with it.”

Sward noted that people continue to buy their fishing licenses at his shop, even though on line purchase options have been available for some time.

“Some people would rather not have to put personal information on line, and in many cases its just as convenient to buy their permit at a shop,” Sward observed.

Changes to the province’s hunting regulations, in addition to on line services, include an electronic system that will create a single point of reference for data collection, guide outfitter hunter reports and resident hunter harvest information. The ministry hopes to have the new system in place in time for the 2015 -16 hunting season.
