SESS senior boys soccer team heading for the Provincials
The senior boys soccer team finished third at the Okanangan Valleys tournament on the weekend of October 20-21, therefore qualifying them for the Provincial Finals in Victoria, which begin this week on Thursday, November 1. Sixteen teams are involved in this year’s tournament.
Similkameen Elementary Secondary School’s grade eight volleyball team lost to Summerland Middle School two sets to zero on October 23.
The SESS grade eight team also lost to Skaha Lake Middle School two sets to zero, but managed a tie against Kettle Valley Railway School, one set each - good enough for a second place finish. Playoffs begin next week for the junior teams.
The senior girls didn’t fare as well at a weekend tournament in Penticton on October 27-28.
The girls finished seventh out of eight teams in a tournament that included a number of double and triple A teams.
“We are still hoping to make the provincials,” said Principal Marcus Toneatto, noting that the team has not lost a match in the South Zone this year.
The next tournament for the girls is the Valleys on November 16 and 17.
The SESS cross country running team is sending three runners to the provincials championships on Friday, November 2 for a race on Saturday in Prince George.
The runners are Kassidy Todd, Noah Beglaw, both grade nine, and Cael Warner in grade 11. They qualified at the Valleys in Summerland against over 300 runners from single A to triple A schools.
