Over 60 cubs and scouts from Penticton and Summerland took to the waters of the Okanagan River Channel Saturday in the annual Huck Finn Race.

Prior to the event the kids, with some help from parents and leaders, built their own rafts for the competition.

According to organizers, along with being just plain fun, the kids get to learn a variety of skills and it helps develop a sense of team working with their peers.

A large group of adults travelled in canoes and kayaks with the racers who began the competition at the Coyote Cruises location just below the dam with the finish line at the Green Mountain Road exit.

The first finishers completed the watery course in 44 minutes. There were a total of 10 rafts this year.
