A woman was awaiting impaired driving charges after she rolled her vehicle on White Lake Road last week.
The woman, in her early 30s, reportedly failed to negotiate an S-curve in White Lake Road heading eastbound, and flipped her Nissan Murano.
The woman had initially been trapped in the vehicle, but was assisted out by a bystander.
Upon arrival, RCMP instigated an impaired driving investigation, and found the woman to be intoxicated.
The woman was awaiting charges, with a court date to follow. It is not clear if those charges have since been approved by Crown lawyers.
The woman did not suffer serious injuries, but the vehicle was totalled.
Cpl. Ted Manchulenko noted the RCMP is still conducting road checks throughout the holiday season at random times, be it noon, 2 p.m. or 8 p.m., as well as at random locations.
“The word back from the vehicles that are checked by the members, there’s a lot of happy people in the car and the driver is sober, so that’s good,” said Cpl. Ted Manchulenko.
“That’s exactly what we want to see. They’re picking their designated drivers and getting home from their Christmas parties or events at work or whatever the case may be, and you can smell it in the car, but the driver’s sober and he’s taking everybody home.”
