File photo Changes are afoot for the Cawston Community Hall as a longtime volunteer is stepping back. The annual general meeting is planned for April 26 at 7 p.m. at the hall. Fresh ideas and enthusiastic volunteers needed.

To the Editor:

The Cawston Community Hall is approaching an interesting time in its role as a cultural and meeting centre for the community as the 2018 Annual General Meeting approaches. The hall has been blessed over many years with the generosity of Cory Van Heck who has done all the bookings, opened up the hall, maintained the hall and a myriad of other activities that have greatly benefited the operation of the community hall.

But, now Cory is gradually unable to undertake all of these functions and the community has to find a way to operate the hall with a diminished role from Cory. Taking bookings, opening and closing up the place for user groups, looking after the revenue and finances, maintaining and cleaning the hall and the list goes on and on.

We need community members and anybody interested to come to the annual general meeting on Thurs., April 26 at 7 p.m in the WI room at the Cawston Hall.

We need people to turn up at the meeting to give input on how we can manage the hall in the future, how to manage the operational costs of the hall and generally how to promote and increase the use of the hall. We need the young generation of people living in our valley to become interested in the operational aspects of the hall.

We are looking for innovative ideas and above all need community input.

Thanks,

Cawston Community Hall Society
