On the first Saturday of the soccer season, the Penticton Booster Juice will donate a dollar from every drink to support local boy Wills Hodgkinson during his fight with cancer.

“We heard about the (previous) Wills fundraiser late, and we didn’t have a chance to help him out then, but now we can,“ said Amanda Lysohirka, the manager of the business located at Cherry Lane Shopping Centre. “We always want to make sure we can help the community as best we can.”

Booster Juice will donate all tips and a portion of all drink sales to support Wills Hodgkinson and his family.

Hodgkinson, 7, is a soccer player and fan which is why Booster Juice chose April 14 as the fundraiser as it is the opening day of minor league soccer in Penticton.

“I know Wills loves soccer. He played soccer with my children,” said Lysohirka. “So I thought, Saturday is the first big day of soccer, parents come in all the time, why not get more in, so we can get some more money for Wills.”

A dollar from every drink, for all smoothies or juices of any size, will be donated directly to Hodgkinson and his family. In addition, all of the tips that day will also be donated to the family.

Hodgkinson was diagnosed with a rare form of kidney cancer earlier this year. When they first operated to try and remove the tumour, it was found to have spread to his spleen, pancreas, and into his lungs. Since then, he has been undergoing chemotherapy and radiation treatment in order to reduce the size of the tumour and make it operable.

Ordeal intensifying for seven-year-old battling cancer

The fundraiser will run from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m.
