Local kids wanting to play organized sports and whose families may not be able to afford it got a boost from the Penticton Elks Lodge recently.
John Yazlovasky of the Elks Lodge No. 51 presented a check for $1,000 to Brenda Blatz of the KidSport Penticton committee.
The committee is a core group of five people who have operated in the city since 1999.
Since then the group has funded well over 1,700 children to help them play sports with a monetary funding estimated by the organization to be more than a quarter million dollars by the end of 2014.
