Oliver’s Firehall Brewery is tapping into a new market and their experiment is already seeing delicious success in flavour.

Firehall is releasing a new, non-alcoholic experimental beer called Fire Drill N.A.I.P.A.

The brewery is calling the new beer “refreshing and hoppy, with strong aromas of citrus fruit” and is brewed in collaboration with Escarpment Laboratories in Guelph, Ontario.

But aside from the taste of the beer, the small craft brewery says that they are breaking barriers by releasing the experimental beverage.

“The non-alcoholic beer market is on the rise, a market usually unavailable to small craft breweries without large budgets or space for the necessary specialized equipment,” the brewery said in a statement released on Thursday. “This barrier is now being broken down through creative brewing practices like limited fermentation, opening up the market to artisan brewers.”

The non-alcoholic beer is an Indian Pale Ale that utilizes an innovative process for producing the beverage, according to the brewery.

A maltose-negative strain of yeast will be used when producing the beer, which ferments just a little bit of the sugars naturally produced.

The brewery says that the beer will be available both on tap and by the bottle.
